APSA Launches New Journal
Next spring, American Political Science Association (APSA) members will receive the inaugural issue of Perspectives on Politics, APSA's first new journal since 1968.  Edited by Jennifer Hochschild, Perspectives will provide political insight on important problems, through rigorous, broad-based research and integrative thought.  For more details on the journal, including submission guidelines, visit  http://www.apsanet.org/perspectives/callforpapers.cfm .

NKU Selects DiPadova to Head Center for Civic Engagement
In September, Laurie DiPadova will move from the University of Utah to Northern Kentucky University to serve as the founding director of the Scripps-Howard Center for Civic Engagement.  DiPadova will be responsible for promoting the scholarship of engagement on the campus and support faculty as faculty intellectuals, advancing community-university partnerships on multiple institutional levels and service-learning as the pedagogy of engagement, creating new initiatives, as well as administering several existing funded programs.

EPA Administrator Lauds Hampton Roads Program
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency administrator Christie Whitman handed a $100,000 check last week to the Elizabeth River Project, a Hampton Roads, Va. group trying to clean up the highly polluted Elizabeth River, and proclaimed the group a model of modern-day activism. State of Missouri Sets Limits on Telemarketing
The State of Missouri's No Call list has grown in popularity over the past year.  State law prohibits telemarketers from calling households on the list, with some exceptions written into the law.  Visit http://www.ago.state.mo.us/nocalllaw.htm to learn more about the law and about actions taken against telemarketers that have violated it. There are currently more than 1,020,000 Missouri residential telephone numbers on the No Call list.

Nashville Festival Promotes Interest in Schools
Nashville, Tenn. Mayor Bill Purcell is hosting the Mayor's First Day Festival on August 11, the third annual citywide celebration designed to get students excited about school and to encourage parental involvement in local public schools.  The festival, which will feature games, music, exhibits, and educational activities, is expected to draw more than 10,000 parents and students. · On Thursday, December 5, ASPA will host a Chapter/Section Leaders Discussion Forum enabling chapter and section members to engage in a national dialogue with ASPA leaders and staff.
· On Saturday, December 7, ASPA will hold a day-long discussion concerning the revision of its strategic plan.
· On Sunday, December 8, ASPA's National Council will conduct its semiannual meeting.
