This section covers the following tabs on the Local Inbound Refinery Configuration screen:
|
Note: The options on these screens are only available if they are relevant. For example, some options are related to optional conversion add-ons. If these add-ons are not installed on the Inbound Refinery system, these options are grayed out and cannot be selected or changed. |
Access this screen by selecting Options—Local Configuration—General from Inbound Refinery or Service Manager. Use it to set a number of general options for each individual Inbound Refinery connection.
Verbose logging—Specifies whether verbose logging should be used. The Inbound Refinery log then shows the related configuration information, for example whether the PDF file is optimized, where the custom converter path is located, and how much time is allowed for custom conversions.
Allow secondary conversion step (when defined)—Specifies whether Inbound Refinery can use alternate conversion if it is defined. This enables the conversion of most documents even if the native application is misbehaving or missing. It is part of the optional add-on PDF Converter, which means you must have this add-on installed to use this functionality.
Post PDF Production Path—Specifies the path of the application that should be used to post-process PDF files (if required). This application is invoked after the conversion to PDF and before the PDF file is optimized. You can use Browse to navigate to the file that should perform the post-processing.
Access this screen by selecting Options—Local Configuration—Native Options from Inbound Refinery or Service Manager. Use it to set a number of conversion options for Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
|
Note: These options are all related to the optional PDF Converter add-on. |
Optimize PDF—Specifies whether PDF files should be optimized. This applies both to PDF files checked into Stellent and PDF files generated by the conversion add-ons (most notably, PDF Converter). Optimization removes graphics and text that appear multiple times in the content, and replaces them with pointers to the first display of them. Optimization enables you to begin to view the first pages of a content item before the entire content item is downloaded.
|
Note: PDF Converter must be installed for any optimization to be performed. |
Process URL links—Specifies whether links to URLs (for example, Internet locations) in Microsoft Word documents should be converted to the corresponding links in the generated PDF files.
Process mailto links—Specifies whether links to e-mail addresses in Microsoft Word documents should be converted to the corresponding links in the generated PDF files.
|
Note: The Process mailto links option is only available if the Process URL links is selected. Otherwise it is grayed out. |
Process Table of Contents to PDF bookmarks—Specifies whether tables of contents in Microsoft Word documents should be converted to bookmarks (navigation tree) in the generated PDF files.
Process document bookmarks—Specifies whether bookmarks in Microsoft Word documents should be converted to the corresponding links in the generated PDF files.
Process heading styles to PDF bookmarks—Specifies whether the standard heading styles in Microsoft Word documents (Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.) should be converted to bookmarks (navigation tree) in the generated PDF files.
Process document links to footnotes and endnotes—Specifies whether links to footnotes and endnotes in Microsoft Word documents should be converted to links in the generated PDF files.
Process document comments to PDF notes—Specifies whether comments added to Microsoft Word documents should be converted to notes in the generated PDF files.
|
Note: Hyperlinks in Microsoft Word documents are only converted if Inbound Refinery is running as an application (not as a service). In addition, hyperlinks in text boxes are not converted, nor are hyperlinked AutoShapes and objects (for example, pictures or WordArt objects) if they are located in tables. |
Process Excel URL links—Specifies whether links to external URLs (for example, Internet websites) added to Microsoft Excel spreadsheets should be converted to hyperlinks in the generated PDF files.
|
Note: Hyperlinks in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets are only converted if they are located in cells. Hyperlinks in text boxes, WordArt objects, etc. are not converted. |
Process Visio URL links—Specifies whether links to external URLs (for example, Internet websites) added to Microsoft Visio drawings should be converted to hyperlinks in the generated PDF files.
Process internal Visio links—Specifies whether links within a Visio drawing should be converted to hyperlinks in the generated PDF files.
Process PowerPoint Hyperlinks—Specifies whether hyperlinks in Microsoft PowerPoint presentations should be converted to hyperlinks in the generated PDF files.
|
Note: PowerPoint hyperlinks can only be processed if PowerPoint presentations are converted in the "Slides" format. This is why the other three options are grayed out (with the top one selected) if you select this check box. |
Convert in PowerPoint "Slides" format—Specifies that Microsoft PowerPoint presentations should be converted to the "Slides" format, which means that each page contains one slide (without any associated notes).
Convert in PowerPoint "Notes" format—Specifies that Microsoft PowerPoint presentations should be converted to the "Notes" format, which means that each page contains one slide with any associated notes.
|
Note: This option can only be selected if the Process PowerPoint hyperlinks option is not selected. |
Convert in PowerPoint "Hand-out" format—Specifies that Microsoft PowerPoint presentations should be converted to the "Hand-out" format, which means that each page contains multiple slides. (They only show the slides; they do not include any associated notes.)
|
Note: This option can only be selected if the Process PowerPoint hyperlinks option is not selected. |
For details on conversion to PDF, refer to the PDF Converter section.
Access this screen by selecting Options—Local Configuration—Thumbnail Options from Inbound Refinery or Service Manager. Use it to set options for thumbnailing.
Create thumbnail images for PDF files created by the Inbound Refinery—Specify whether you want to produce thumbnails for all PDF files that Inbound Refinery creates from native applications, such as Microsoft Word.
Thumbnail quality (1-100)—Specify the image quality of the thumbnails. You can use any number on a scale from 1 to 100, where 1 is a lowest quality, and 100 the best quality. The higher the quality, the bigger the thumbnail file. The default setting is 100.
Thumbnail DPI (1-2400)—Specify the image resolution (in dots per inch) of the thumbnails. You can use any number on a scale from 1 to 2400, where 1 is the lowest resolution, and 2400 the highest resolution. The higher the resolution, the bigger the thumbnail file. The default setting is 34 dpi.
Use quick sizing / Use smooth sizing / Smooth sizing for grayscale graphics—Specify how the thumbnail images should be handled:
Use quick sizing—This option results in the fastest conversion of color graphics; however, the quality of the converted graphic will be somewhat degraded.
Use smooth sizing—This option results in a more accurate representation of the original graphic, but requires a more complex process which will slow down the conversion speed slightly.
Smooth sizing for grayscale graphics—This option uses the smooth sizing option for grayscale graphics, and the quick sizing option for any color graphics.
|
Note: The thumbnail quality, thumbnail dpi and quick/smooth sizing settings can only be changed if you only use Inbound Refinery (and not PDF Converter). If you use PDF Converter, these settings are grayed out and cannot be modified. This is because PDF Converter uses a different thumbnailing engine than Inbound Refinery. |
For details on thumbnailing, refer to the Thumbnails section.
Access this screen by selecting Options—Local Configuration—XML Options from Inbound Refinery or Service Manager. Use it to set options for conversion to XML.
|
Note: These options are all related to the optional XML Converter add-on. |
Do not convert to XML—Specifies that no conversion to XML will take place, even if the XML Converter add-on has been installed. If both PDF Converter and XML Converter are installed, this means that only PDF files are generated from the native files.
Create XML renditions for all supported formats—Specifies that conversion to XML will take place for all file formats that are supported. If both PDF Converter and XML Converter are installed, this means that both PDF files and XML files are generated from the native files. Selecting this option enables selection of either the FlexionDoc schema or the SearchML schema.
Convert XML as the only web-viewable file—Specifies that the XML rendition is the only web-viewable version of the content items; no other web-viewable files (for example, PDF) are generated. If both PDF Converter and XML Converter are installed, this means that only XML files are generated from the native files. Selecting this option enables selection of either the FlexionDoc schema or the SearchML schema.
Use FlexionDoc XML Schema—Specifies the use of FlexionDoc XML schema when converting documents to XML.
Include a DOCTYPE tag in FlexionDoc xml output—Specifies whether a DOCTYPE tag is created in the FlexionDoc XML output.
Use SearchML Schema—Specifies the use of SearchML schema when converting documents to XML.
Include a DOCTYPE reference in SearchML output—Specifies whether a DOCTYPE reference is created in the SearchML output.
Use a reference to an XML Schema in SearchML output—Specifies whether a reference to an XML schema is used in the SearchML output.
Remove any definition reference in SearchML output—Specifies whether a definition reference is removed from the SearchML output.
Include paragraph style information in generated SearchML output—Specifies whether paragraph style information is included in SearchML output.
Include embeddings in the SearchML processing—Specifies whether embeddings are included in the SearchML processing.
Suppress the creation of the XML Declaration—Specifies whether the creation of the XML Declaration is suppressed
For details on conversion to XML, refer to the XML Converter section.
Access this screen by selecting Options—Local Configuration—Legacy Conversion from Inbound Refinery or Service Manager. Use it to set options for legacy conversions.
Custom Converter Path—Specifies the path of the process that performs the custom conversion.
Custom Converter Timeout—Specifies the time in minutes that Inbound Refinery waits for the custom conversion to complete. The timeout value is minutes is calculated in the following manner:
timeout value [in minutes] = ([file size in bytes] x timeout factor) / 60,000
For example, if a 100,000-byte file is to be converted and the timeout factor is set to 1, then the system will wait no more than 1:40 minutes (100,000 x 1 divided by 60,000 = 10/6) for the custom conversion to complete. The content item to be processed is allotted at least the number of minutes indicated in the 'Minimum' column, but no more minutes than indicated in the 'Maximum' column. If the calculated timeout value is lower than the 'Minimum' value, the 'Minimum' value applies. Similarly, if the calculated timeout value is larger than the 'Maximum' value, the 'Maximum' value applies.
Preconversion Path—Specifies the path of the process that is used to perform actions prior to every conversion. You can enter a path or use Browse to the right of the field to navigate to the file.
Pre-Converter Timeout—Specifies the time in seconds that Inbound Refinery waits for the preconversion process to complete. The timeout value is minutes is calculated in the following manner:
timeout value [in minutes] = ([file size in bytes] x timeout factor) / 60,000
For example, if a 100,000-byte file is to be converted and the timeout factor is set to 1, then the system will wait no more than 1:40 minutes (100,000 x 1 divided by 60,000 = 10/6) for the preconversion process to complete.
For details on custom conversions, refer to the Legacy Conversions section.
